Folding bike pioneer Brompton has launched a special edition bike in collaboration with Team GB. The bike will be used by athletes and staff this summer to get between venues and facilities in Tokyo with team members already having used them to plan routes through the city.

Not only that but a limited run of 2,020 bikes will go on sale to help support Team GB athletes and a one-off 2021 edition, made in partnership with the British Red Cross, will be raffled for charity with details released closer to the Olympics.

The Brompton Team GB bike is based on the brand's M6L bike with back components and mudguards and a 13-litre messenger bag.

It has, of course, been designed with Team GB branding with a red lacquer main frame, gloss white front frame and fork and blue rear frame, with the bag sporting a custom blue Lion jacquard fabric.

Tim Ellerton, Team GB commercial director, said, 'Brompton Bikes are known throughout the world and are a very proud British brand with whom we are delighted to be working with ahead of and during Tokyo 2020.

'We had various members of the operations team using them in Tokyo to map out routes between key sites, so they have already proved their worth and we look forward to using them further still at Games time.'
