Wout van Aert's Cervélo S5: Is this the next world champion's bike?

Will this be the machine that guides Wout van Aert to World Championships glory in Flanders?

Cycling superstar Wout van Aert has had an incredible season with Jumbo-Visma winning three Tour de France stages, Amstel Gold Race, Gent-Wevelgem, the Tour of Britain and more.

This Cervélo S5 is one of the bikes that has guided him to glory throughout 2021 and Van Aert hopes it will take him to another big win, the elite men's road race World Championships in Leuven, Belgium on Sunday 26th September.

The S5 is a thoroughly modern, fully integrated aero bike and van Aert's machine is resplendent in a Jumbo-Visma paintjob that's been adapted to reflect his status as Belgian national champion.

Van Aerts's bike has a full Shimano Dura-Ace R9170 groupset, not the latest Dura-Ace R9200 series drivetrain. It's going to be some time before the new 12-speed kit is rolled out across Shimano-sponsored teams.

Cyclist digital editor Joe Robinson was lucky enough to get a closer look at this special machine ahead of the race, watch as he talks you through the bike of one of the best riders in the world.

Oh, and apologies for the Victor Campenaerts video bomb...
