Kasper Asgreen's Specialized Tarmac SL7: Super aggressive, super nice
The bike Tour of Flanders star Kasper Asgreen will be racing at the World Championships in Leuven
Tour of Flanders star Kasper Asgreen is among the favourites to take rainbow in the elite men's road race World Championships in Leuven, Belgium.
The Deceuninck-QuickStep Spring Classics specialist is a powerhouse rouleur who will form part of a formidable Danish team that includes Magnus Cort, Michael Valgren and former World Champion Mads Pedersen (don't miss our feature on Pedersen's Trek Madone).
Cyclist was afforded a special look at Asgreen's stealthy Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7, the very bike that took him to Flanders glory and the machine on which he hopes to win rainbow.
The first point of note regarding the rangey, powerful Scandinavian'ss bike is his position. A 82cm saddle height with 63cm reach on a 56cm frame suggests pure aggression.
Like every man and his dog, Asgreen and the Danes are yet to get hold of Shimano's latest Dura-Ace R9200 series drivetrain instead settling for the former 11-speed Dura-Ace 9170 groupset.
Asgreen's wheel choice is Specialized's in-house Roval brand and its Rapide CLX 60mm wheels with S-Works Turbo Cotton clincher tyres. The 26-year-old rides a Specialized Phenom saddle, 40cm Pro Vibe bars and a giant 170mm Specialized Tarmac carbon stem.
The final detail to note comes on the Tacx bottle cages which have been smeared in grip paste to prevent bottles jumping on the cobbled climbs across the race.
