YouTuber Path Less Pedaled goes behind the scenes at the Paul factory

Paul Components is a boutique US brand known for its solidly built components ranging from seriously fancy brake calipers to clever hardware mounting solutions.

This charming video from gravel riding YouTube channel Path Less Pedaled takes you behind the scenes at the Paul factory in California, giving an insight into what it takes to turn solid lumps of aluminium into shiny jewel-like bike components.

Beloved of custom builders and gravelistas, Paul parts make extensive use of machined billet and have a functional aesthetic tempered with cheerful anodised colour options.

Notable products include the Klamper cable disc brake caliper and quirky adapters that turn bar-end shifters into thumb levers – how niche is that?

Rim brake enthusiasts will find plenty to like about the Paul range too, with a choice of a designs to suit all manner of road, touring and gravel bikes.

My favourite part of this little film is when Paul himself – the founder is still very much in charge – shows off his personal prototype multitool, a fixed-bit design somewhat reminiscent of the minimalist Park Tool MT-1. He’s clearly a bike nerd through and through, and I salute that.

Make yourself a hot drink and enjoy a gentle peek behind the scenes at Paul, you won’t regret it.
