2022 WorldTour team kits rated: The Cyclist guide

Our guide to the new kits of each of the men's and women's WorldTour teams for the 2022 season

As we enter 2022, one of the few things we can look towards is the impending return of the cycling season. In fact, you're likely desperate for some racing, reaching peak withdrawal symptoms right about now.

Hallucinating about Thibaut Pinot in yellow in Paris, seeing Annemiek van Vleuten in your tea leaves, telling uninterested colleagues on Zoom calls that if you thought Tadej Pogačar was incredible at the Tour de France, to wait until Remco Evenepoel properly gets going. Using the term 'nice moments' to describe your Christmas. Stuff like that.

Well, to help you through, we thought we'd take you through the lovely new men's and women's WorldTour team kits for the coming season and, better still, we've ranked them with a completely arbitrary rating system.

2022 WorldTour team kits

AG2R Citroen – 8/10

If you don't agree that AG2R's brown shorts are culturally iconic then this list and perhaps cycling is not for you and you should conside something else like tennis.

We would like to see the return of the blue and brown jersey, thought. And Jean-Christophe Peraud in his £100 Decathlon BTwin cycling shoes.

Astana – 5/10

Alexey Lutsenko has just discovered The Inbetweeners via an illegal VPN stream on team camp and cannot recommend it enough. As for the kit, it is very similar to last year which means the same middle of the road averageness.

We think Astana should bring back the turquoise shorts.

Bahrain Victorious – 6/10

Bahrain-Victorious' kit looks like what I'm led to believe an NFT is? Who knows. Probably a good time to invest in gold.

Bora-Hansgrohe – 5/10

Papa? Le Col!

Canyon-Sram – TBC

Cofidis – 8/10

That's actually a mirror selfie of Guillaume Martin in Cofidis' new kit, don't you know?

Top marks for Decathlon being back in the WorldTour. Wonder if the team gets discounts on archery sets and horse riding boots?

QuickStep-Alpha Viynl – 8/10

Huge fan of Kasper Asgreen's winter beard. Huge fan of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl's 2022 jersey. Huge fan of all the riders benefiting from QuickStep's LVT flooring.

EF Education-EasyPost - TBC

EF Education-TIBCO-SBV - TBC

FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope – 9.5/10

Quite comfortably the best kit in the both the men's and women's peloton. The consistancy from FDJ has been remarkable in the past few years. And we'd hedge our bets that their matching Lapierre bikes will be absolutely gorgeous too.

Groupama-FDJ – 9/10

Is this what *perfection* looks like? No, that is Thibaut Pinot in Paris wearing yellow, my dear.

Human Powered Health –  6.5/10

Human-Powered Health, SD Worx and UAE-ADQ should have really dropped each other a quick text vis-à-vis 2022 kit.

Ineos Grenadiers – 5.5/10

If 'corporate' was a cycling jersey, it would be this Ineos Grenadiers jersey. Team rides to Richmond Park. Client lunches. Le Blanq Tour. The lot.

Israel-Premier Tech – 6.5/10

Israel-Premier Tech claim the 1970s living room pattern on its new jersey is inspired by Bauhaus which is strange because he rides for Bahrain-Victorious.

Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert – 4/10

The order of best French supermarkets is as follows: Auchan, Intermarche, Casino, Super U, Carrefour, E.Leclerc.

Note to Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert, by the way. You either go full Androni or not at all.

Liv Racing – TBC

Lotto-Soudal – 4/5

We know who Lotto Soudal are but we've never heard of Soudal Lotto.

Movistar – 8/10

'And that's why The Godfather III is the true cinematic masterpiece of the trilogy, Enric.' We like this jersey. Well done Movistar.

Team BikeExchange-Jayco – 7.5/10

Tacky? Yes. Dated? Yes. Do we love BikeExchange's 2022 kit? Absolutely, yes.

Roland Cogeas – 7/10

Roland Cogeas has played bass for Phil Collins since No Jacket Required and has used his fortune to finance a women's WorldTour cycling team.

Team DSM – 6.5/10

And that concludes John Degenkolb's TedTalk on how YOU can become a better YOU. Team DSM have done ok.

Jumbo-Visma – 7/10

Jumbo-Visma team kit 2022. C for design. Bee for execution.

Team SD Worx – 6.5/10

Repeat: Human-Powered Health, SD Worx and UAE-ADQ should have really dropped each other a quick text vis-à-vis 2022 kit.

Trek-Segafredo – 7/10

Lizzie is definitely a Monica. Mads is such a Ross. And Giulio? We all know who Giulio is. Trek-Segafredo's kit was better last year, wasn't it?

UAE Team Emirates – 3/10

If Marc Soler isn't your favourite pro cyclist, you're doing it ALL wrong. UAE Team Emirates masterstroke here. Rubbish jersey, though.

UAE Team ADQ – 6.5/10

REPEAT: Human-Powered Health, SD Worx and UAE-ADQ should have really dropped each other a quick text vis-à-vis 2022 kit.

Uno-X – 7.5/10

Uno X. Playing Uno but while skydiving. The colour combo works for us.
