A complete guide to this year’s UCI World Championships coverage with a full TV guide

The 2021 UCI World Championships will take place between Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th September 2021 in the Flanders region of Belgium. Back to a full schedule after the pandemic saw the 2020 edition cut to just the Elite men’s and women’s events, Julian Alaphilippe will try to retain his stripes, while Anna van der Breggen will look to end her career with a defence of her TT and road race titles. With the mixed relay, plus the return of the under-23 men’s road race and other races for younger riders, it’ll be a packed eight days of competition.

Spreading the more significant events over the eight days, the racing begins with Filippo Ganna trying to retain his title in the Elite men’s Time Trial on Sunday 19th. Followed on Monday 20th by the U23 time trial later the same day, we’ll also find out who will be the next Elite Women’s time trial champion.

Likely to draw many viewers for its novelty alone, the Team Time Trial mixed relay comes on Wednesday 22nd September. The Men’s under-23 road race takes place on Friday 24th September. A lead into the big weekend of racing, this is followed by the Elite Women’s road race on Saturday 25th September and finally the men’s Elite road race, which closes proceedings on Sunday.

While the time trial events are pan-flat, the road racing courses seek out as many of the region’s hills as possible. Despite largely avoiding Flanders' more storied climbs, the organisers have still created routes that will suit punchy riders and should make for exciting and distinctly Belgian-style racing.
