Film night: Rapha Gone Racing returns for Cape Epic 2021

The final Rapha Gone Racing film of the year premieres on Monday 13 Dec, 20:00 GMT.

‘Over seven stages and a prologue, on sinuous single track and dusty farm roads, under glaring South African sun and the odd sudden downpour, the Cape Epic always crowns a worthy winner.’

Well, make that winners.

18 months after their first appearance at the Cape Epic had to be postponed due to the pandemic, Rapha Gone Racing returns to the world’s toughest mountain bike race, that sees riders compete in pairs.

The Youtube film will show the journey of EF Education Nippo’s Lachlan Morton and partner Kenneth Karaya.

None of Morton’s regular teammates could make it to the race, and Rapha describe Kenya’s Karaya as uncovering ‘a gem’.

In what is the biggest race of Karaya’s life, he has the ideal partner in the trusty and headstrong Morton.

But, as Rapha say, ‘racing is never all about results.’

Something that I find can often be missing from cycling. When you follow a sport so intently, so passionately, a lot of quick coverage can be about who wins – or who loses.

Everyone has their own story to tell. The ups, the downs, the individual experiences en route to the final destination that help shape both the races and the people who are competing in them.

Tune in to Rapha Gone Racing below to see the story of Morton and Karaya at Cape Epic 2021 from 20:00 GMT on the 13th of December.
