Retro aesthetics, new flat bar option and a carbon wheelset too

In a move that will delight lovers of a classic aesthetic, Shimano has launched a new polished silver gravel groupset dubbed GRX Limited.

GRX Limited takes the existing 11-speed GRX RX810 components – both 1× and 2× flavours – and gives the levers, derailleurs, cranks and brake calipers a deliciously retro polished finish.

It also adds a flat bar option for those looking to narrow the mountain–gravel bike gap even further.

Shimano has also announced a GRX Limited wheelset featuring 25mm internal width carbon rims and the brand’s signature cup-and-cone hubs.

Shimano GRX Limited pricing and availability

UK Shimano importer Madison tells us that GRX Limited will be available in the UK although numbers are likely to be… limited.

We don’t have pricing as yet, but it should be in the same ballpark as existing GRX, with availability to be confirmed.

US pricing is as follows for complete groupsets:

  • GRX Limited 2×11: $1,465
  • GRX Limited 1×11: $1,360
  • GRX Limited 1×11 flat bar: $1,015

We have full GRX Limited UK pricing by component:

  • RX810 (2×) / RX812 (1×) rear derailleurs: £129.99
  • RX810 front derailleur: £57.99
  • RX810 40T 1× crankset (170/172.5/175mm): £259.99
  • RX810 48/31 crankset (170/172.5/175mm): £259.99
  • BL-T8100LE / BR-RX820 flat bar levers and calipers pair: £329.99
  • RX810 2× STI / BR-RX820 calipers pair: £739.99
  • RX810 1× STI / BR-RX820 calipers pair: £699.99

What about Shimano GRX 12-speed and 105 Di2?

Shimano component availability has been an ongoing problem for the industry and with rumours of Shimano 105 Di2 (or indeed a 12-speed GRX groupset) swirling, this launch has taken us somewhat by surprise.

Now that 12-speed Dura-Ace R9200 and Ultegra R8100 are 12-speed, an extra sprocket for GRX is all but inevitable, but we have no idea when that will happen.

We love a silver groupset however, so we can’t be too annoyed – more like this please. Feast your eyes on the new Shimano GRX Limited...
