Cyclist holiday in Spain

Cyclist magazine
7 Oct 2016

The perfect way to end your cycling year.

This November, Cyclist is hosting a luxury road cycling break in the south of Spain, with four days of great riding, fine food and high-quality relaxation. For anyone who isn’t ready to pack away the bike just yet, this is the perfect opportunity to soak up some winter sun in a region with quiet roads, challenging climbs and amazing views.

Guests will stay at the beautiful Real Agua Amarga resort in a secluded part of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park on Spain’s southern coast. The facilities and food are truly first class, and the rides will be tailored to suit all abilities, accompanied by a professional guide and back-up vehicle. Numbers will be kept to a minimum to maintain the personal touch, and you’ll also get to ride with members of the Cyclist team.

Everything you could want is included in the price – all meals, wine and beer, transfers, guiding, bike servicing and even a post-ride massage.

Dates are Thursday 10th November to Tuesday 15th November. The price is £1,300. To register your interest (without any commitment), click here

A day on the Cyclist luxury break

  • Start the day with breakfast beside the pool – fresh foods will give you the energy to get riding.
  • Don your bibshorts, collect your bike (which has been magically cleaned) and take to the quiet roads of the Almeria region. The guide will show you the best routes, while the back-up car carries all necessary supplies. Riding as a small group ensures a pleasant experience and that no one gets left behind.
  • Rides will be in the region of 100km a day, but are flexible to suit the abilities and wishes of each cyclist.

  • Stop for a quick lunch at a restaurant that is ready for our arrival.
  • On returning to the Real Agua Amarga, snacks and refreshments will be waiting, while your bike is stored and cleaned.
  • A massage will relieve tired legs.
  • Spend some time in the pool or relaxing in the Jacuzzi that overlooks the National Park. Perhaps take a wander to the nearby town of Agua Amarga and stroll along its beautiful beach.
  • Dinner will be three courses of top-class food, with aperitifs and plenty of fine local wine (steady now – think of the next day’s ride).
  • Retire to your well-appointed room (each with a personal Jacuzzi) to rest in readiness for the following day’s ride.
