Matt Brammeier, Lars Petter Nordhaug, Martyn Irvine and Conor Dunne to ride for new Pro Continental team.

A new Irish Pro Continental team is set to join to pro peloton in 2017 under the name of Aqua Blue Sport. The team is backed by businessman Rick Delaney, who has spent the previous few years sponsoring an Irish amateur team under the same name, and is said to have financial backing for the next four years.

Former Team Sky rider and 2015 Tour de Yorkshire winner Lars Petter Nordhaug will be the team's leader, and will be joined by three Irish riders on the current roster, which is set to be fully confirmed in the coming weeks.

Former track specialist and United Healthcare rider Martyn Irvine will come out of retirement to join the team, while Matt Brammeier will bring experience gained at HTC-Highroad, Omega Pharma-Quickstep and Dimension Data. Conor Dunne, a 24 year old who has spent the previous seasons at AnPost-ChainReaction and JLT-Condor and won this year's Rutland-Melton Cicle Classic, is the final signing to have been announced.

The team aims to be participating at WorldTour level after four years and compete at the Tour de France, but has initial aims for 2017 to be present at races such as Milan-SanRemo, Amstel Gold Race and the Tour of Britain.
