Rapha partners with Bang & Olufsen

B&O goes all pink with the Rapha designed BeoPlay H6.

We’ve seen many partnerships from high end cycle clothing manufacturer Rapha, although they’ve usually been of the fashion variety (Paul Smith, Graeme Raeburn etc.) so to see them partner with Danish electronics giants Bang & Olfusen comes as a surprise.  The product itself however, the BeoPlay H6, comes as no real surprise at all.

For years now we’ve seen professional cyclists warming up with cotton buds up their noses and a pair of large noise cancelling headphones clamped over their King Lears. We can’t possibly recommend wearing any form of musical device for riding, and nor do Rapha – these are for using exactly how the pros use them: whilst stationary. Rapha describe them as being ‘designed for use during warm-up and recovery, travel, and the turbo trainer sessions necessitated by competitive cycling.’

Our suggested use would be to put these on whilst on the turbo trainer (outside your motor-home), with the news on loudly in the background, so you can pretend you’re avoiding difficult questions from Matt Rendell.

As with everything Rapha, the materials are the best (and quite possibly also to excess). The ear pads are covered with the same African hair sheep leather used in their Grand Tour gloves and the headband is made from the same fabric as their ProTeam Softshell jacket. Features carried over from the BeoPlay H6 include the ability to swap the audio jack from one earpiece to the other, as well as daisy chain the cord should people wish to ride their turbo trainers in tandem. Naturally the whole product is finished in Rapha’s signature pink.

The Rapha – Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H6 headphones are available from the 21st of May 2015 priced at £329.
