New kit revealed in partnership with Kalas

British Cycling has revealed its new team kit, supplied by reletively unknown Czech brand Kalas.

The partnership was announced back in November, but with only a few snippets to go on visually. Now however the full kit design has been revealed, with new British Cycling sponsors HSBC taking a prime position on the shoulder, in what is a fairly commercial-looking, almost pro team-esque design for a national jersey.

'We are delighted to be working with KALAS,' said Iain Dyer, Great Britain Cycling Team head coach. 'From the start of our process to recruit a new clothing supplier, Kalas demonstrated a detailed understanding of the performance demands of such a technical partnership. Having a kit supplier with their in-depth knowledge and high level of service is invaluable to the Great Britain Cycling Team.'

Meanwhile, Kalas director and co-owner Jakub Věncek said: 'Working with British Cycling and the Great Britain Cycling Team has opened up some exciting opportunities for Kalas to demonstrate our capabilities. For over 25 years we’ve been developing premium cycling kit. We have made these new elements and technologies, introduced in to the 2017 kit design, available for fans of the team to experience during their rides and races.'

Kalas founder Čestmír Kalaš began making cycling clothes in 1991, when after a meeting with Assos founder Tony Maier he started to produce garments in Tabor, in what was then Czechoslovakia, for the Swiss brand. The partnership lasted for 5 years, at which point Kalaš broke off to found Kalas Sportswear. The brand now supply a number of other pro teams, including Wanty-Groupe Gobert and Ford-Ecoboost, as well as jerseys for the London Six Day.
