The Tour de France champion will kickstart his season in Australia, where he's been training

Team Sky have confirmed their line-up for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on Sunday 29th January, which includes Chris Froome making his first appearance of the 2017 season.

The British rider has been training in Australia and will follow the Cadel Evans event with the Herald Sun Tour, which he won in 2016.

As ever, the Tour de France will be Froome's target for the year and his early season programme will be built around that goal. The warm Australian conditions are in stark contrast to the rain and snow many teams have been suffering during training camps in Spain.

The rest of the Team Sky line-up for the Cadel Evans Road Race are new recruit Kenny Elissonde, British Classics contenders Ian Stannard and Luke Rowe, Sebastian and Sergio Henao, and Danny van Poppel.

After their time in Australia the riders will head off to training camps and the European racing season. The Mallorca Challenge also takes place this week, where Peter Keannaugh - who won the 2016 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race - will start his season.
