SRM joins forces with Look

SRM, the power meter specialist, teams up with component manufacturer Look to produce updated Origin PowerMeter crankarms

Look Cycle, a brand most recognised for its contributions to the pedal and bike market, is to join forces with SRM, known for their power meter systems, in a partnership that will look to develop and market new and innovative products.

The first collaborative project is a sophisticated carbon crank arm for the SRM Origin PowerMeter (pictured). The original power meter took its name from the fact that SRM designed all of its components, and offered a lot of compatibility over different spindles, which enabled the meter to be used on road, mountain bike and track frames.

Look's introduction though means that the crank arm has been modified, and improved, with the Trilobe Technology arm, and will be available in the three standard lengths: 170mm, 172.5mm and 175mm.

'It is extremely stimulating for SRM, the brand that revolutionized cycling by changing the way athletes train and race with the first PowerMeter, to partner with LOOK, an iconic brand in cycling, that shares with us the same passion for innovation, precision and craftsmanship,' said Uli Schoberer, CEO of SRM.

Both Vincenzo Nibali and Romain Bardet will be using the system throughout the season, riding for their respective SRM-sponsored teams, Bahrain-Merida and AG2r.

'The training of Bahrain-Merida athletes is one of the most important areas in which we at the team invest. SRM is the benchmark of power meters, and we are proud to provide our athletes and performance staff such a valuable training tool,' added Brent Copeland, Bahrain-Merida's team manager.
