Canyon releases kids' bike range, including hydraulic discs and SRAM 1x

First ever range designed to give 'young riders the best possible introduction to life on two wheels'

German bicycle manufacturer Canyon has expanded its range with the release of a new range of kids' bikes. There are three bike models for ages three-years and up, and the bikes have been specifically made for off-road use.

'First impressions count the most, which is why it's so important to provide young riders with the best possible introduction to life on two wheels,' Canyon said of the launch.

The three bikes - Canyon Offspring AL 16, Canyon Offspring AL 20 and Grand Canyon AL 24 - have been made to combine sharp design elements with the intention of boosting the young rider's control, comfort and confidence on the bike.

The AL 16, above, also features a larger 18" front wheel to 'aid momentum so the smallest riders can roll more smoothly over rough surfaces.'

To encourage riders to use these mountain bikes as they were made to be ridden - that is, off-road - the bikes will come with hydraulic disc brakes, through axles and geared drivetrains.

The Offspring AL 16 will run on a two-speed SRAM Automatix hub gear system, while the Offspring AL 20 and Grand Canyon AL 24 will both take nine-speed SRAM 1x.

Canyon will be showcasing the bikes over the weekend of 3rd to 5th March at the Berliner Fahrradschau, where young riders will also be able to test out the new machines.
