Events to include rides, talks, and the launch of a women-only dimension of the Zwift game

Zwft, the virtual reality training simulator, is celebrating International Women's Day by launching a series of female-focused events over the next week.

Highlights are set to include in-game rides led by Zwift ambassadors from the Canyon/Sram and Colavita-Bianchi pro teams, as well as Rapha. As well as that, three-time Olympic Champion Kristin Armstrong will be participating and speaking about her career on Wednesday 8th (International Women's Day) at 15:15 GMT.

Zwift are also planning to launch a new women-only dimension of the game today, and in doing so hope to break the record for the most female riders to log a ride on Zwift in a day. A new Women's Week kit is set to be unveiled, and will remain accessible for future use, while anyone that participates in at least one Women’s Week event will be eligible to win one of a series of prizes.

Leah Thorvilson, who turned pro with Canyon/Sram this year after being selected from the unique Zwift Academy, which gives riders registered on Zwift the chance to compete for a place on the team, will also feature in the week's activities, in broadcasted video of her first race with the team.

Zwift recently announced that the Academy and its 'eSport' dimension is set to continue in 2017, with Zwift aiming to triple registrations and create the world's largest community of female cyclists.
