SS17 brings some noticeable updates from Assos on the design front, with the same performance-driven technologies that define the brand

Top-end apparel brand Assos has released a slew of new products to outfit riders going into the 2017 Spring and Summer. As is usual from Assos, the new products are highly technical, combining several different fabrics and proprietary technologies to create the performance the Swiss brand wants from each product.

Aesthetics have developed distinctly however - generally the SS17 garments feature cleaner lines and blocks of colour, as opposed to the busier styling of old. An attractive geometric working of the Assos ‘A’ decorates the odd jersey sleeve and sock cuff, which brings the look of the range bang up to date.

The last few seasons have seen Assos release top-tier bibshorts so it has used SS17 to refresh its entry level by introducing the T.Milleshorts_s7 bibshorts. It is encouraging to see the Assos’ premium s7 pad sitting at the heart of these shorts, which promise comfort and quality for the everyday.

To match the shorts there are several new jerseys designed to cater for several different types of riding: the équipejersey_evo8 is a racing jersey; the centojersey_evo8 offers a more relaxed fit for long rides and there is a women’s specific LaaLaLaiEVO jersey, which is made from a versatile soft-feel fabric that is comfortable yet aerodynamic.

A host of accessories have also been released - from mesh Shasha gloves to performance socks in a range of colours, complementing the colour and pattern of Assos’s latest jerseys. Cyclist will be testing some of the range over the warmer months so look out for full product reviews in the near future.
