Eurosport and CA Technologies partnership aims to 'bring fans closer to the peloton'

Eurosport and CA Technologies, a software provider, have partnered up to launch an app that can be used as a second, hand-held screen to accompany regular race coverage.

The app aims to bring fans closer to the peloton by providing live data from the race, while a primary screen continues to relay images from the race itself.

Using the app, which is available on Apple, Android and Windows devices, users will be able to access interactive maps and rider data, putting riders on a map using GPS, and giving access to details such as heart rate, power output, cadence, speed and altitude.

Stage previews and reviews, sponsored by CA Technologies, will also be available to view via the app.

'We know that passionate sports fans love to have all the stats and data at their fingertips and this partnership with CA Technologies, alongside our TV coverage, will enable our cycling fans to access everything they need,' said Peter Hutton, Eurosport's CEO.

'While television remains the most popular way to watch major sporting events, second-screen experiences enabled through apps have become increasingly important to viewers,' added Lauren Flaherty of CA Technologies.

The app feature, which is accessible via the Eurosport app, will be available to use throughout this year's Giro d'Italia, and during other key races in the 2017 season.
