Basecamp, who specialise in gravel riding, open cafe, shop and rental facility in French Alps

A new business specialising in adventure and gravel-orientated riding has opened its doors on the shores of Lake Annecy in the French Alps.

'Basecamp', as the brand is known, offers bike rental facilities, guided tours, a cafe and retail shop, all housed within a 'Brand HQ', located in the village of Talloires on the lake's eastern shore.

'The Basecamp team see gravel and adventure riding as a real area of expansion and have developed several exciting single and multi-day itineraries that take riders off the beaten track either as part of a supported tour or self-guided,' say the Basecamp team.

With partners 3T and Open, both adventure bike manufacturers, and Apidura, which specialises in lightweight bikepacking luggage, Basecamp is aiming to be 'the go-to destination for gravel and adventure riding in the Alps.'

But while adventure riding may be at Basecamp's core, it recognises that road cycling is not to be ignored either, and as such it has devised a wealth of routes - and available rental bikes - to cater for roadies.

'Brand HQ', bike rental, and entry to Bascamp events (such as the La Resistance gravel sportive), are available now through the website.
