Sunday’s events will decide who wears the National Road Race Champion's jerseys for the coming year

The British National Championships got underway this Thursday on the Isle of Man but all eyes now turn to the races on Sunday. The opening day of competition saw the time triallists competing, with Steve Cummings and Claire Rose both claiming their first British titles.

Sunday will see the event’s conclusion, when both men’s and women’s road race titles will also be decided.

Both the men's and women's road races will cover some of the same roads as the island’s famous motorcycle TT course.

In the women’s race defending champion Hannah Barnes (Canyon-SRAM) is likely to face strong competition from both Lizzie Deignan of Boels–Dolmans and Cylance Pro's Danni King.

Although getting the call up to ride alongside Chris Froome may well mean Luke Rowe is absent, Ian Stannard, Peter Kennaugh and Tao Geoghegan Hart are all registered to compete.

Also due to ride is a local hero Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data). He has recently been sidelined with illness and is likely to use the race as a final measure of his recovery, with his participation at the Tour de France still in the balance.

With the women’s road race starting at 09:00, and the men’s at 13:45, highlights will be broadcast on Monday 26th June on ITV4 at 18:00 and on Eurosport at 22:00.
