Watch: Tour de France Stage 5 highlights: Aru wins but Froome in yellow

Fabio Aru took the stage but Chris Froome relieved teammate Geraint Thomas of the race lead

Summary - Stage 5 - Tour de France 2017 by tourdefrance_en

Fabia Aru (Astana) crossed the line victorious on the first summit finish of the 2017 Tour de France, but he didn't quite do enough to take the yellow jersey.

Defending champion Chris Froome (Team Sky) took over the race lead from teammate Geraint Thomas who finished a little way back.

Stage 6 will either be a bunch sprint or a day for the breakaway, so the top 10 in unlikely to change just yet.

After Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) crashed out and Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) was disqualified for his involvement in that crash, the sprint - if there is one - is likely to be a lot more open.

Marcel Kittel (Quick-Step Floors) will be the favourite in any conventional bunch kick but don't rule out some smaller names making their presence known in the reduced field.
