Watch: Kittel's second stage win of the 2017 Tour de France (video highlights)

Marcel Kittel once again came out on top of a fast bunch sprint at the 2017 Tour de France

Summary - Stage 6 - Tour de France 2017 by tourdefrance_en

Marcel Kittel (Quick-Step Floors) won Stage 6 of the 2017 Tour de France on a day that was always going to be for the sprinters.

With both Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) now absent for the race for their parts - harshly blamed and unfortunately injured, respectively - in the same crash, Kittel's win was not diminished by their absence as he won in characteristic style.

Kittel has been coy about his chances in the green jersey competition but if he keeps on racking up the sprint wins that it could be within his reach.

Other riders, in particular the likes of Arnaud Demare (FDJ), might be better placed to get over the lumps and bumps that stand between riders and the all important intermediate sprint points.

A long day lies ahead of the peloton on Stage 7, raising questions about the suitability of the route considering it's the first year that every stage will be broadcast live from KM0.
