You have to feel for Warren Barguil; the Frenchman crested the final climb of the day solo and looked to be riding to the win on Stage 9 at the 2017 Tour de France.

He was then passed by compatriot Romain Bardet and caught by the Froome led group. Barguil latched on and rode with the overall contenders before finding a second wind to contest the sprint.

That sprint was later decided by a photo finish that gave the win to Rigoberto Uran, but Barguil punched the air as he crossed the line and was duly led off for the podium ceremony and accompanying interviews.

Partway through an interview with the host broadcaster, Barguil's heart was broken when a commissaire interrupted brandishing a photo that showed Uran to be the victor.

Barguil was understandably quite upset. He did get some comfort, though, as his breakaway antics gained him enough points to move into the lead in the mountains classification.
