Alexander Kristoff unveils his fresh European Champion's jersey

Off the back of victory at the European Championships, Alexander Kristoff shows off his brand-new jersey

The introduction of the European Championships means that one lucky rider in the peloton gets to wear a special jersey all year round.

Last year, we did not get to see this kit because it was won by Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) who was too busy modelling the rainbow bands.

However, this season it will be on show for all to see thanks to Norwegian Alexander Kristoff (Katusha-Alpecin) taking the victory in Denmark last weekend.

In a tweet from Katusha-Alpecin, we got our first glimpse of this jersey - and we must say - it is looking rather fresh.

Swapping the all red kit of his trade team, Kristoff will be fashioning a white jersey with the blue and gold flag of Europe running across his chest. In a classy touch, Kristoff will also wear black shorts with the blue and gold tipping the ends.

Katusha-Alpecin will now be able to boast the European Champion jersey alongside the World Time Trial Champion jersey of Tony Martin.

The Union of European Cycling will be hoping that Kristoff does not experience success when he rides the World Championships in his home country, Norway next month in fear of the jersey being hidden for another season.
