UK based Miltag launches original Stormtrooper jersey

These might be the jerseys you were looking for. Miltag has got together with Andrew Ainsworth, the creator of the Stormtrooper jersey in Star Wars - A New Hope, to release a new original Stormtrooper jersey.

Known for its custom cycling clothing, Miltag worked with original designer Ainsworth to bring a collection of two jerseys, the white 'Garrison' and black 'Shadow'.

The kit is based off of the moulds of the first Stormtrooper uniform originally designed by Ainsworth at Shepperton Design Studios back in 1977. These moulds are still owned by Ainsworth, 40 years later.

Prop maker Ainsworth fought a legal battle with Lucas Films over the rights of the original Stormtrooper image and was found to have equal rights over the design as filmmaker George Lucas, with the United States the only restriction.

With full licence from Shepperton Design Studios, Miltag has taken inspiration from the first film A New Hope.

The 'Garrison' design pays homage to the iconic image of multiple troopers in rank whilst the 'Shadow" presents a more abstract approach.

Miltag has fast become a name in the custom kit world, designing bespoke kit in noteably low quantities. This has seen the business become predominantly based around its custom kit range.

Producing kit that often presents a challenge in terms of design, Miltag director Ed Cowburn hopes that these complex designs can showcase this.

'At Miltag we’re committed to showcasing the best of design in our products and we’re chuffed with our new Original Stormtrooper jersey,' he said.

'We’re sure it’ll be appreciated by cycling and film fans alike.'

Both manufactured in Miltag's standard club fit, the jerseys will be released on limited run initially. Sizing will range from XS-XXXL for men and XS-XL for women, retailing at £75 for both jerseys.
