Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome will lead the charge as Team Sky look to win TTT

Team Sky have confirmed their six-man line-up for the World Championships Team Time Trial as they look to win an event that has so far eluded them, with third in 2013 the best result to date.

Chris Froome, who recently completed a historic Tour de France-Vuelta a Espana double and will be riding the individual event, leads the team.

Joining Froome is Geraint Thomas, who recorded his best ever time trial result by capturing the first Yellow Jersey of this year's Tour.

Owain Doull completes the British contingent and his pedigree against the clock will provide a vital part of the engine as the team takes on the 42.5km course in Bergen, Norway.

World Champion in the Individual Time Trial in 2015, Vasil Kiriyenka's place in the team was probably the most assured ahead of the final confirmation and his performance on the day could be the difference between a win and no podium place at all.

Michal Kwiatkowski, who dropped just 15 seconds to Thomas on Stage 1 of the Tour de France and is a two-time Polish National Champion against the clock, makes the cut before pulling on his national colours for the individual event the following week.

Gianni Moscon is the sixth rider.

Team Sky will have their work cut out if they are to get the better of two-time winners BMC Racing and defending champions Quick-Step Floors, with Orica-Scott another threat for the title.

Both the men's and women's events are scheduled to take place on Sunday 17th September.
