Colin Sturgess takes the role of team manager at Madison Genesis after the departure of Mike Northey

Madison Genesis have announced Colin Sturgess as team manager for the 2018 season, replacing Mike Northey who will be moving back to his native New Zealand.

Sturgess will come on board with the vision of developing the British Continental team, hoping to secure wildcard entries to both the Tour of Britain and the Tour de Yorkshire.

The new team manager will have a wealth of experience to pull upon having been individual pursuit World Champion in 1989 as well as British National Champion in 1990.

Whilst current manager Northey has spoke of the difficult decision to part with the team, he has praised his replacement suggesting Sturgess is a 'perfect match to the team.'

Sturgess spoke of his excitement to work with the team and aid in the development of young homegrown talent.

'I’m stoked to be joining Madison Genesis, a team I’ve held in high regard since their inception,' said Sturgess.

'For any nascent DS a move to such a progressive team is a privilege,' he added.

'I look forward to working with both experienced riders and nurturing some of the country’s best up-and-coming talent.'
