BMC Racing's Jim Ochowicz spells out his teams lofty but simple ambitions for 2018

At the BMC annual training camp in Denia Spain, BMC Racing general manager, Jim Ochowicz, announced the team goals for 2018.

With 48 wins - 22 of which were at WorldTour level - and 13 TT wins, in 2017, the team is focused on making the next season the biggest yet for BMC Racing.

'Our goals for 2018 are not complex,' Ochowicz said. 'We want to win one of the five Monuments in the Spring. We would like to take back the World TT Championship in Innsbruck-Tirol, and we want the number one team ranking.'

With that said the team is gearing up for the first race of the season less than 30 days from now in Australia, The Santos Tour Down Under.

On 16th January, the American team will be heading there taking three former winners to the race in their line-up.

The Tour Down Under will mark Richie Porte’s first WorldTour appearance since crashing out on Stage 9 of the Tour de France in July, and enters the race as defending champion.

He will be joined by the 2016 winner and four-time champion of the race Simon Gerrans, who joined BMC from Orica-Scott for the 2018 season, and Rohan Dennis, who won the overall in 2015 with BMC.

'The Santos Tour Down Under is one of our key races of the season, and we’re excited to go there with the formidable team that we have,' said Ochowicz.

'I don’t think we have ever started with such an impressive lineup and with Richie Porte as our captain, and former champions Rohan Dennis and Simon Gerrans at his side,' added Ochowicz.

'We are in for a great start to the season.'

The Tour Down Under 2018 takes place between 16th-21st January.
