Up to 20,000 cyclists set to attend Cycle Expo Yorkshire in October

Yorkshire is set to host its very first cycle expo in October this year with 20,000 cycling enthusiasts set to attend across the weekend.

The event is a joint venture between Welcome to Yorkshire and marketing and event specialists XSEM, and will host a number of events and demo areas from 12th to 14th October.

Hosted at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate, attendees will be able to watch races and competitions varying from a closed road women's and men's circuit race to a cyclocross race and even a 'pro-rider flatland competition'.

Beyond being spectators, there will be the chance to test ride bikes from some of the industry's biggest brands with a wooded mountain bike track and kids 'GoRide zone' all on the agenda.

The event will also allow cyclists to head off into the local hills on a collection of eBikes available to be tested across the weekend.

Tickets for the expo will go on sale later this month with further information being available on the event's website here.

This expo is the latest in a long line of cycling events to hit Yorkshire and according to Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity will further help grow the importance of cycling in the county.

'Along with the Tour de Yorkshire and the UCI Road World Championships in 2019, Cycle Expo Yorkshire will continue to build on our cycling legacy attracting thousands of visitors,' said Verity.

'We have already had a great response from local cycle clubs and retailers alike, and hope the rest of the county can get behind us to support the event in true Yorkshire spirit.'
