Alex Dowsett (Katusha-Alpecin) has had his rare Canyon Speedmax time trial bike stolen from his house while he was away racing at the Dubai Tour. The unique bike was stolen in a burglary on the rider's home in Essex on Monday in what Dowsett believes to be a targeted theft.

The 29-year-old posted to his Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts yesterday evening urging people to stay vigilant for the bike that is 'likely the only one of its kind in the country.'

'This wasn't an opportunity steal, or an opportunist taking advantage. I am asking you to take a minute to share this post as much as you can to track down my bike and to track down the thieves that took it,' Dowsett emotionally wrote.

'If you see this bike at a race, online, rolling round the streets, in a house etc please please get in touch with us or the Chelmsford police.'

Dowsett finished his message directly addressing the thieves responsible for the theft stating, 'You have a material item that belongs to us but the emotional stress, sleepless nights and worry you have caused by breaking into our home and our safe place is distressing beyond words.

'You have no idea what else could be going on in our lives and the impact this has on that.'

The team issue bike is unlikely to be similar to any others in the UK, fitted with full SRAM Red eTap and Zipp 303 wheels. The frame is also in the red of Katusha with the team and rider's name label clearly on the bike.

If you have any information regarding the stolen bike contact the non-emergency incidents line on 101 or email Chelmsford police at
