Rapha expands brand with new cycling components

British luxury cycling brand set to release range of saddles in late April

Luxury British cycling apparel brand Rapha looks to be expanding its reach outside of what can be worn on the body with a new collection of saddles.

Set to be released in late April, the collection will include two saddles, the Rapha Classic and Rapha Pro Team which are said to exactly match the chamois of their corresponding bibshorts.

Rapha also promises that you will be able 'to shop according to weight and width to find your perfect perch.'

From the teaser images provided, it appears the Italian-made saddle will be understated in correlation with Rapha's wider image with the sentence 'I was flying today' printed on the underside.

The former kit suppliers to Team Sky revealed that it had been working on the project of producing saddles for the past two years.

However, from the images provided it looks likely that the brand will have worked with a more established partner in the field like it has done with other items.

In 2016 Rapha released a special edition Giro Synthe helmet with the American-based company, and Rapha said at the time that it would quite likely be 'the start of something further.'

These saddles seem to be that something.

This latest brand extension shows that despite being sold to RZC investments - a branch of the Walmart family - for £200m last year, there is no stopping the growth of the London-based company.

Besides apparel and the worldwide cafes, Rapha also operates luxury cycling holidays across the globe with the addition of Colombia for 2018.
