The Canyon bike with 'those' handlebars will be on offer for you to ride at the Cyclist Track Day events: buy your tickets now

The Canyon Grail certainly caught your attention last month, dear reader. Until the release of Campagnolo 12-speed earlier this week, it was the most viewed gallery in the history of the Cyclist website.

While the gravel scene is undoubtedly going through the roof, you weren't reading about this bike because Canyon had finally released a gravel-specific bike. No, you were all busy trying to work out the revolutionary handlebar set-up mounted to the bike, the Hover Bar.

With its double decker approach, the German direct-to-market giant has attempted to reinvent the handlebar in an effort to combine the needs of those who love riding the road and the off-road.

The jury is still out, and will remain to be for quite a while, but thankfully you will have the chance to join this jury as the Canyon Grail will be on offer to ride at the Cyclist Track Days.

Splitting bars

It's like the bike's calling card. The Canyon Grail is defined by this new handlebar style that Canyon has developed and could arguably represent the future of all-road riding.

There is a simple purpose to this dual bar approach. The top Flex Area bar is there to deflect vibrations away from your wrists and hands.

The lower section remains rigid, like a road handlebar, giving added rigidness when sprinting in the drops or descending.

Wider than your usual bar and with a shorter stem, the bars also aim to emulate the feel of a mountain bike by offering stability on the gnarliest of surfaces.

This bike is more than the handlebars it should be said. A complete bike weighs in at just 8.2kg which is competitive for a gravel bike.

The 40mm Schwable G-One Bite tyres are sturdy and can be run tubeless for low pressures and extra comfort.

The bike also comes fitted with 2x Shimano drivetrains which with a 50/34-11/34 offer a 1:1 gear ratio, low enough for the steepest and stickiest of gradients.

The revolutionary Canyon Grail will be one of the many bikes available for you to ride at one of four Cyclist Track Days this spring.

If the Grail isn't for you, bikes from the likes of BMC, Wilier, Bianchi, Cannondale, Specialized and 3T will also be on offer for you to test around the purpose-built tracks.

With your ticket, not only will you get to ride bikes to your heart's content but also you will also get to speak to experts from the brands and the Cyclist editorial team while getting a hot lunch and goody bag.
