Adam Hansen receives special 'Iron Man' bike for 20th consecutive Grand Tour

The Australian will ride this special edition bike at the Giro d'Italia

Starting your 20th consecutive Grand Tour is quite some feat. In fact, when he rolls off the Giro d'Italia start ramp in Jerusalem tomorrow, Adam Hansen (Lotto-Soudal) will have been the only rider to have done so.

So to mark this special occasion, the Australian has been presented with a special bike with a paint job inspired by Marvel millionaire businessman Tony Stark.

The Ridley Helium SLX has kept its red, black and white colour scheme in keeping with the Belgian team yet has been given a few unique touches, including the gold of Iron Man.

On both the headtube and toptube, the Stark emblem has been altered with an 'R' while across the bike there are reminders of Hansen's 20th consecutive tour.

As with all Lotto-Soudal Ridley bikes, the groupset is full Campagnolo Super Record EPS fitted with matching Campagnolo Bora Ultra wheels.

In typical Hansen style, the fit of the bike is extremely aggressive with harsh saddle-to-bar drop and slammed stem. The seatpost is also turned around and the saddle is pushed as far forward as possible.

One note to make is that unlike usual, Hansen's cranks are shorter than 180mm which he usually rides.

Hansen's Grand Tour record spans back to 2011 and is set to continue this season. At the moment, he is planning to ride the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana if all goes well at this month's Giro.
