Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) will start the 101st Giro d'Italia tomorrow in Jerusalem, Israel with the number one pinned to his back as defending champion. The Dutchman will set out to become the first rider to defend the Maglia Rosa since Miguel Indurain in 1993.

His biggest competition will probably be four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome who, himself, will be looking to become the first rider since Bernard Hinault to be the champion of all three Grand Tours at the same time.

When the two riders battle mano y mano over the next three weeks, the team at Velon will be giving the viewing public an extra eye into the race by broadcasting both riders' data live throughout the race.

Across all 21 stages, Velon will broadcast the power data, heart rates, cadence and speed of a selection of riders within the race giving you a more informed idea of just how hard the riders are working and what it takes to race a Grand Tour.

Besides Froome and Dumoulin, Velon will also broadcast data from home favourites Fabio Aru (UAE Team Emirates) and Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors).

During the race, Velon - the media group co-operated by 10 WorldTour teams -  will also tweet data coverage of certain riders while some data will also be broadcast on the live TV coverage.

After the stage is completed, Velon will also broadcast live interviews with a selection of riders who helped animate that day's stage.
