Watch: Mitchelton-Scott's backstage pass from incredible day at the Giro d'Italia

Mitchelton-Scott go 1-2 on Stage 6's summit finish, and take the leader's pink jersey in the process

Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia was the 2018 race's first proper summit finish after a couple of previous punchy uphill sprints to the line. The stage was won by Esteban Chaves, whose Mitchelton-Scott teammate Simon Yates crossed the line immediately after him and took the overall lead of the race in the process.

As ever, the team produced a video of their day and the latest episode of backstage pass is a good one. From talking tactics on the team bus, to footage from the race and finally interviews with riders and staff after the stage, this gets you an inside view of the team and lives up to the series' name.

As Sam Bewley comments when interviewed after following the end of the stage, 'it's a long way to go to Rome, but things are looking good' for the team.

With defending champion Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) looking strong, Chris Froome (Team Sky) not quite out of the running just yet and others like Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) still in the hunt, the Australian team will have their work cut out to keep Yates on the top step of the podium.

But the 25-year-old was clearly the strongest going uphill on this stage and with two riders in the top three, it's now up to the rest of the field to unseat Mitchelton-Scott.
