Italian bike masters Colnago and iconic sportswear giants Adidas have decided it was high time that they got together and created a special collection that's truly beyond desirable, a limited edition Colnago Master X-Light x Adidas frameset.

Realistically, the frameset is no different to the classic Master X-Light that is already on the market with its steel tubing, fused lugs and traditional geometry tipping a hat to the original Master of 1983.

Just this time it's been co-designed with the three-stripe icons and produced to a strictly limited run of 105 frames.

What's different is the unique design and paint scheme that incorporates the defining Adidas 'trefoil' logo across both the down and top tubes alongside the Colnago Asso di Fiori, two symbols that are unmistakable.

Like all of Colnago's bikes, the signature of founder Ernesto graces the rear of the top tube, too. For this, Colnago and Adidas have set an asking price of £3,099 for the frameset.

For this particular build, the frame has been built with Campagnolo Super Record 12-speed, a Colnago quill stem and Vision Trimax 30 wheels.

Altogether, this has created a bike that's likely to become iconic, a modern day classic that could well be the envy of those just as enamoured with 1980s terrace culture as those with the Italian carbon and steel artistry that guided Merckx to many of his wins.

This collaboration is more than just a frame, too, with two sets of trainers being released which are also much more afforable than the bike, reworking two shoes of the existing Adidas collection, 1980s football inspired Kamanda and Trimm Star light training shoes.

Both have been finished in Pellegrini leather with the latter being inspired by the red accents of Guiseppe Saronni's original Master of the 1980s.
