Dimension Data to become Team NTT in 2020

Currently having a lacklustre Tour de France after making the mistake of leaving Mark Cavendish at home, Dimension Data announce a rebrand

South African-registered WorldTour team Dimension Data are to be rebranded as Team NTT for the 2020 season and have announced that Matteo Sobrero, 22, and Samuele Battistella, 20, will step up from their Continental feeder team to the WorldTour.

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), a large telecommunications company, has been the parent company of Dimension Data since 2010, with all Dimension Data operations excluding those in South Africa and the Middle East becoming a full part of NTT at the start of July 2019.

The change in name is only being billed as a rebranding, with senior figures and operations at the team likely to remain unchanged into the new season.

The announcement of the change was dominated by the news that young Italian pair Sobrero and Battistella will be joining the team, having already stood on the top step of a podium many times between them in their fledgling careers.

This season Sobrero took victories at the U23 Strade Bianche, Giro de Belvedere and the U23 National Championships. 'I'm happy to take these next steps with the Dimension Data team, who will become Team NTT next year, after already being two years on the continental team where I have learned and grown so much as a rider,' Sobrero said.

Battistella, who took top honours at the Tour de Limpopo and GP la Torre earlier this year, added, 'I’m so excited and motivated for next season and I will give everything in every race to help the team, to learn and honour the new NTT WorldTour jersey.'
