Christine Majerus (Boels-Dolmans) has won the overall title at the 2019 Boels Ladies Tour, topping the podium ahead of Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) and Lisa Klein (Canyon-Sram).

The three riders had started the final day all on the virtual podium, though Weibes managed to leapfrog Klein into second by taking a time bonus after finishing as runner-up on the final stage.

Indeed the entire race for General Classification was dominated by the trio, with reigning champion Annemiek van Vleuten’s (Mitchelton-Scott) prologue victory the only result good enough to keep the leader’s orange jersey outside their hands.

After taking back-to-back Stage 1 and 2 victories on home soil, Wiebes managed to wrest the GC from Van Vleuten, only to cede it the next day to Klein when the German won Stage 3.

Majerus came good on Stage 4 to earn herself the race lead while Franziska Koch (Team Sunweb) took victory on the penultimate day from Arnhem to Nijmegen.

The final stage flipped their previous exploits, with competitors riding from Nijmegen to Arnhem. Echoing the similarity of the parcours, the only change on the last day was Marjerus losing four seconds of her 30-second cushion to eventually win the overall by 26 seconds.

This was the 22nd edition of the Boels Ladies Tour - also known as the Holland Ladies Tour - the biggest women’s stage race held in the Benelux countries, part of the UCI Women’s WorldTour.
