Jesus Ezquerra sets bar high for men worldwide by shutting 106km of Spanish roads to propose

Some of us hire a private room in a fancy restaurant, others will do it at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Burgos-BH rider Jesus Ezquerra, however, waited until completing a gruelling three weeks of racing around Spain before asking his beloved other half 'will you marry me?'

The 28-year-old from the north coast of Spain made the final day of the Vuelta a Espana an extra special one by asking his girlfriend to marry him during the race.

Ezquerra dropped back to the team car partway through the processional stage into Madrid. On his way back, Ezquerra told one of the TV motorbikes to head with him to capture the special moment.

Pulling alongside the car, Ezquerra's girlfriend popped her head out the window before the rider produced a ring from his back pocket, asking the fateful four-worded question.

Luckily, she said yes and the cameras captured the loving moment when both shared a kiss. Ezquerra was also fortunate that race commissaries had a heart as there was some suspect 'sticky bottle' action in order for him to keep up with the car and pop the question.

It capped off a special Vuelta for the Spanish ProContinental Burgos-BH team.

Angel Madrazo - also widely known as McLovin in the professional peloton - took the small team's first-ever stage win on day five's summit finish to Javalambre, with it being a case of two buses coming at once, as teammate Jetse Bol crossed the line second on the day.

While Ezquerra's moment was pretty special for him and his new fiancee, he will be the enemy of the peloton as all other riders will now have to beat the standard set at the final Vuelta stage.
