Frenchman blames Team Sunweb sprinter for incident in final 200m

Tempers flared at the end of rain-soaked Münsterland Giro with Deceuninck-QuickStep's Florian Senechal throwing a post-race punch at Max Walschied.

The Team Sunweb sprinter was talking to German broadcasters WDR having sprinted to fifth when Senechal confronted him.

Walschied noticed Senechal was about to throw a punch and had time to avoid the glancing blow before Senechal's teammate Davide Martinelli led the angered Frenchman away.

It is believed Senechal's anger was down to a crash in the final 200m of the race.

The 26-year-old peeled off of the front of the peloton, having finished his work for eventual winner Alvaro Hodeg. As Senechal drifts back through the bunch, Walschied cuts across his front wheel causing him to crash.

Senchal's crash also saw a Sport-Vlaanderen rider crash, however it appears nobody else hit the floor in the incident.
