Impressive 2019 earns the 20-year-old move into Women's WorldTour

Talented young British rider Anna Henderson will ride at professional cycling's highest level in 2020 as she signs for Team Sunweb. The 20-year-old is currently the double women's under-23 road and time-trial champion and will join the Dutch-registered Sunweb team on a one-year deal from Brother UK-Tifosi.

Henderson impressed throughout 2019 taking two victories in the Tour Series - Durham and Brooklands - before finishing second at the elite women's road race National Championships en route to winning the U23 category.

The young rider then rounded off this impressive season as part of the Great Britain team to take bronze at the inaugural Mixed Relay Team Time Trial at the World Championships in Yorkshire.

These results were enough to convince Team Sunweb coach Hans Timmermans that Henderson was worthy of a contract with the team for 2020.

'Anna is a new kid on the block in women’s cycling after taking up the sport late in 2016, having formerly been a junior slalom champion skier in Great Britain,' said Timmermans.

'She’s still young and has shown her potential several times at UCI level this season, highlighting herself as a Classics style rider with a strong sprint.'

Henderson was undeniably delighted with the move seeing it a huge step in her young career.

'I’m looking forward to joining Team Sunweb next year and taking another step up in my career,' said Henderson.

'The team has a very professional environment with various experts and they are known for their good pathway to develop riders. I’m excited to get started in the Women’s WorldTour and learn from the other strong and experienced riders on the team.'
