Former coach stormed out of the hearing on Tuesday after being accused of 'being a doper and liar'

Former Team Sky and Great Britain coach Shane Sutton will not return as a witness to the medical tribunal into Dr Richard Freeman.

Sutton appeared as a witness at the tribunal in Manchester on Tuesday for what was an explosive afternoon of questioning, to answer allegations he had bullied Freeman into ordering banned substance testosterone to the Manchester Velodrome in 2011 to treat erectile disfunction.

During the questioning from Freeman's legal counsel Mary O'Rourke, Sutton was accused of being 'a liar' and 'a doper', who stored testosterone in his fridge.

In an incredible response, Sutton demanded a lie detector test to prove his innocence before asking for his wife to come into the hearing to testify he 'could get a hard on'.

Sutton also directly addressed Freeman, who was obscured by a screen due to being a vulnerable witness, calling him a 'spineless individual' before storming out of the hearing.

It has now been confirmed by the Medical Practioner Tribunal Service that Sutton will not reappear at the hearing on Thursday. Instead, former GB and Team Sky psychologist Dr Steve Peters will be called by the General Medical Council as its second witness.

The hearing continues on Thursday morning.
