Archetypal folding bike gets made over by ex-pro rider and commentator

Brompton and David Milar’s CHPT3 have released the latest version of their bike. The long-standing collaboration between the two has seen the Tour de France stage winner and ITV cycling commentator create several customised versions of the London based firm’s folding bike.

This newest model is inspired by the Catalan city of Girona in northeastern Spain. Home to Millar, along with a good chunk of the peloton, its architecture has influenced the logos printed on the top tube of the new edition.

An unsurprisingly racy build, the latest CHPT3 grey and red bike features low S-type handlebars, 6-speed gearing, narrow tyres and does without mudguards. Weighing 10.3 kg, it also uses Brompton’s ultra-light titanium fork and rear triangle. Finished with a custom titanium rail CHPT3 saddle and special edition Ergon GE1 Evo Slim grips, it’ll retail for £2,295.

Included alongside is new limited-edition Brompton x CHPT3 sling bag. Unusually for Brompton, this won’t fit with the bike’s regular luggage system but is instead intended to be worn by the rider.

The bike's promo film features Gironan artist David Roselló riding the latest Brompton around a sunny Barcelona.

'The film highlights the core of what makes a Brompton x CHPT3 so unique,' explains the Brompton website. 'We bring together cyclist and artist and let spontaneity lead a route through the city of creativity, Barcelona.

'He is discerning about what he rides but art is what drives him. David Rosello’s life is art, but he wouldn’t use anything else to get around the city other than a Brompton x CHPT3 2020.'

Gotta say, the guy’s skatepark moves could use a little work. Still, the bike looks pretty nice.
