The former record holder will be leading Zwift rides in the run up to the attempt as well as competing in Rouvy's virtual Taiwan KOM

Alex Dowsett will be joined by the public in his preparations for December's Hour Record attempt with training rides on Zwift and a virtual race on Rouvy.

The former record holder, and current British Time-Trial National Champion, will lead a weekly ride in the month prior to the event for the public to join on Zwift or stream via YouTube.

Each session, along with four others without Dowsett, has been prepared by the Israel Start-Up Nation rider, with each themed around legendary attempts at the Hour Record.

'I'll be massively appreciative of the support knowing that there will be others suffering alongside me,' Dowsett said. 'These workouts are progressive with a taper back down for the final week, finishing the series with a short but punchy session.

'This is my Hour Record prep. It's meant to be hard, it's meant to be exhausting, and on the limit.'

If training with the Essexman isn't enough for you, he will also be racing the virtual Taiwan KOM on 21st November.

The Pedal Taiwan VCR Challenge is an opportunity for you to compete with Dowsett, endurance cycling legend Mark Beaumont or British National Hill Climb Champion Ed Laverack in support of charity Action Medical Research.

Hosted by Rouvy, free access to the app will be provided to competitors for the event and the fastest up the virtual climb will be invited to a live final in London once regulations allow.

Dowsett, riding for haemophilia charities Little Bleeders and the Haemophilia Society, will try to break Victor Campenaerts's record of 55.039km at Manchester Velodrome on 12th December.
