Halfords celebrates 2020's bike boom with release of gold-coloured bike

Gold Carrera bike marks the 500,000th model sold by Halfords

Selling bikes for over 30 years, Carrera introduced its Vengeance model a decade ago. Halfords has now sold almost half a million of them, that’s one bike for every 133 people in the UK.

Given the numbers involved, it’s safe to assume a good proportion of these have found their way to a spot underneath a Christmas tree or two.

In the run-up to this Christmas, you could now gift yourself a very limited edition version.

Wrapped up in the style of a very large Christmas present, this one-off Vengeance has been custom painted in a festive gold livery.

Normally retailing for a reasonable £325, its winner will find their new bicycle delivered in time for unwrapping on 25th December.

First, you’ll need to enter the competition via the following link: halfords.com/carrera-500000-vengeance before the competition closes at 23:59 on Wednesday 16th December.

According to Ben McCabe, Halfords’ chief bike designer: 'With its all-round performance at a keen price point, it's not a surprise that the Vengeance is our best-selling mountain bike.

'We’ve sold half a million since launching the model in 2010. To celebrate this milestone we’re giving away a limited edition gold model to one lucky cyclist.'

Given the boom in cycling over the past year, Halfords has been having a golden year more generally. Shifting bikes hand over fist, its share price is now five times what it was compared to March.
