The date of the 2021 edition of the Mallorca 312 sportive has been confirmed as Sunday 24th October, after being postponed from its original date in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organiser Milestone Series had originally planned the 11th edition of the sportive, which was cancelled in 2020, for April but ongoing lockdowns and travel bans mean running a full scale event with over 8,000 participants wouldn't be possible.

Milestone has delayed registration until it can guarantee the event – which sees amateur riders take on routes up to 312km and up to 5,000m of climbing – will go ahead.

A virtual Mallorca 312 will take place on the intended date of 24th April though, so participants can ride the routes, which are 312km, 225km and 167km, from the comfort (or pain) of their own home.

This news comes amid claims from Francina Armengol, President of the Balearic Government, that the islands are a safe destination with 'the lowest infection rate in the Mediterranean'.

She said: 'We will be the top holiday destination in the Mediterranean over the coming months.' However, as it stands British people will only be allowed to holiday legally from 17th May.
