Having been on a break from cycling since January to consider his future, the former Giro d'Italia winner is returning to the peloton

Call it a comeback, the windmill is returning: Tom Dumoulin will make his return to racing at the Tour de Suisse on 6th June.

Jumbo-Visma announced this morning that the Dutchman will head to the eight-stage race in Switzerland 'to regain the racing feeling' before heading to the Dutch National Championships.

The team's statement says, 'The rider of Jumbo-Visma has made this decision together with the team as he has recently found the joy in cycling again.'

Dumoulin's initial announcement that he was pausing his career stated that he needed to figure out what he wanted within the sport and that pressure had meant he forgot himself.

Whether this return means he has found answers remains to be seen, but we sure hope so, and with a team as loaded as Jumbo-Visma it's the perfect place to race without being the one expected to win. Although he might've helped at the Giro.

Jumbo-Visma also stated that Dumoulin is planning to go the Olympics – provided they go ahead – at the end of July.

While we'll have to wait and see which Tom Dumoulin emerges at the Tour de Suisse, whether it's time-trial specialist, GC contender, massive engine or something new, we hope that he's here to stay and that his example will helps others within the sport to look after their mental health.
