Zwift launches new Japan-inspired map

Makuri Islands will add 85km of new road and eight new routes to the virtual app
The virtual world of Zwift has expanded yet again, this time with a new Japan-inspired map that introduces eight new routes and 85km of new roads to explore.
The popular training game launched the new virtual world called Makuri Islands on Thursday and will be open for all Zwift users to ride for the next 10 days until 1st June, before it joins the app's fellow maps on rotation.
The first map within the Makuri Islands will be Yuzemi, 'a fantastical countryside destination, inspired by Japanese culture' which translates to 'path of dreams'.
A combination of gravel and tarmac roads, Zwift states, 'Yumezi boasts a wide variety of road types from tight, flat, winding roads ideal for fast races to dirt roads and cobbled market streets', adding that users 'exploring the new map will discover lush green fields, ginkgo forests bristling with life and mystical creatures, cherry blossom trees, gushing waterfalls and ancient temples.'
The new Makuri Islands map joins the existing maps of Watopia, London, Richmond, Paris, France, Innsbruck, Yorkshire and New York.
