First episode of Road to the Tour of Britain released today in series following a rider from each of the British Continental teams

A new online video series has launched today tracking the efforts of five British riders, from all five of Britain's Continental teams, aiming to get selected for the Tour of Britain.

'Road to the Tour of Britain' is a monthly series released on the Tour of Britain website as well as on their YouTube and Facebook pages with the first episode premiering today, Thursday 27th May.

Between now and the start of the race on 5th September, the series will follow Trinity Racing's Ben Healy, Saint Piran's Tom Mazzone, Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling's James Shaw, Canyon-Dhb-SunGod's Rory Townsend and SwiftCarbon Pro Cycling's Pete Williams.

Producers are hoping the series will be a showcase for British cycling and the teams, with some looking to compete in their debut Tour of Britain this year.

Riders have been selected to cover a range of experience levels, from Irish road race champion Healy and Mazzone, who are hoping to make their first appearances at the race, to Williams who is looking to break the record for most appearances, having ridden the Tour 11 times already.

Townsend, meanwhile, will be looking to build on his 2019 performance when he won the sprints jersey, while Shaw comes from a WorldTour background having ridden for Lotto-Soudal from 2016 to 2018.
