This year's Timelaps event will feature both an outdoor and a virtual, indoor category as well as a solo category for ultra-endurance riders

Red Bull has announced that Timelaps, the 25-hour, one-day race, is returning later this year with entry now open.

Taking place over 30th to 31st October, Timelaps challenges teams of four to ride as far as they can over the period when British Summer Time is switched back to Greenwich Mean Time.

What's more, any efforts in the hour after 02:00 becomes 01:00 are doubled as part of the Continental 'Power Hour'.

For the first time, the 2021 event will have both an outdoor category, held at Goodwood Motor Circuit and a virtual, indoor category with riders either logging their distance via Strava or on a turbo trainer at Red Bull Studios in London.

Also new for this year's event is the solo category for ultra-endurance riders who wish to punish themselves.

Red Bull has set up a Strava training challenge to help potential entrants get in shape before the race and anyone who completes the challenge and signs up for the event is in with a chance of winning a signed Tom Pidcock jersey.

That might be worth a few quid in a few years' time.

You can sign up now for your place at Red Bull Timelaps but be quick as the in-person races are first-come first-served. For more information, visit redbull.com/timelaps
